Dry Johnson is comprised of bassist Terry Dry and drummer Matthew Robert Johnson, who collectively have formed the powerhouse rhythm section backing award-winning Texas guitarslinger Mike Zito for almost two years. Terry Dry and Matthew Robert Johnson met for the first time in Fargo, North Dakota in 1998 and played together a few years later in Houston, Texas. They have continued playing music together off and on for 20 years. Throughout that time, they have learned to back many guitar players and singers on bandstands, festivals
and recordings. |

REVIEW FROM BALTIMORE BLUE S SOCIETY
"Dry Johnson is a rare rhythm section that has moved out of the background to the forefront. Long Live Them Blues is the first release in what will hopefully be a successful new career."
- Cashbox Music
"Dry and Johnson prove on track after track of Long Live Them Blues, Vol 1 why they are considered a “go-to” rhythm section for many blues artists in the Houston area. Hopefully, they will present us with Vol 2 in the near future."
- Graham Clarke, Phoenix Blues Society
"I loved this album from start to finish. It's got a sweet variety of tunes, a big Texas sound, great musicianship by the regulars and guests, and makes for a great listen. I highly recommend this one!"
- Steve Jones, Crossroads Blues Society, review of Long Live Them Blues Vol. 1
"This is a pretty solid, fun debut album by a Houston-based duo headed by bassist Terry Dry and drummer Matthew Robert Johnson. But what makes this disc work goes way beyond clever lyrics, of course. Listeners get a heaping helping of sweaty, authentic roadhouse blues and hot licks."
- Toledo Blade, review of Long Live Them Blues Vol. 1
"Dry Johnson has done a nice job selecting songs and arrangements that allow each of their guests to show what they do best while demonstrating why they've become a first-call blues rhythm section."
- Living Blues Magazine, review of Long Live Them Blues Vol. 1
